We are very proactive regarding gum health. The gums are the foundation to everything in the mouth. We'll put patients on a three or four-month recall to manage any gum issues or gum disease issues as opposed to sending them out for surgery, so we don't really send too many patients out to surgery. Now, there are some who have to go and it is necessary at times. But we have found here in the office by being conservative, by having the patients come in every three or four months, we're able to maintain them, we're able to shrink their pocket depths, we're able to get bleeding under control, inflammation under control, and they don't have to have the gum surgery done. It's been a great part of my practice and patients love not having to have surgery, and having their teeth cleaned every three or four months is very beneficial because it's removing all the bacteria that's constantly building in the mouth.
