Understanding the Cost of Implants What can I expect to pay for this treatment?

The cost of dental implants at our Bergen County, NJ, practice is determined by a number of different factors. While it is impossible to give an exact estimate without first examining your teeth, here are the elements that play a role in the final cost:

  • Number of Implants: The number of implants is the most significant factor in the final cost. Patients replacing a single tooth will pay less than patients with complete tooth loss who require several dental implants.
  • Oral Health: Procedures for periodontal disease, jawbone recession, or tooth extractions will add to your final treatment costs. Patients with good oral health can expect to pay less by saving on prep work.
  • Restoration Materials: Patients can choose from different materials for their implant-supported restoration. Higher-quality materials like zirconia or porcelain can be more costly, but they tend to be the most durable and natural-looking. We will break down the benefits of the different materials and help you select the best option for your needs and budget.

Digital Tools That Enhance Implant Planning and Placement

In this video, Dr. Stephen J. Malki explains how advanced 3D imaging and custom surgical guides allow him to place implants with accuracy and efficiency. Patients benefit from shorter procedures, minimal discomfort, and faster recovery compared to traditional methods — making implant treatment more predictable than ever.

Implants Can Address Every Type of Tooth Loss

Dental implants are made from strong, biocompatible titanium and can be tailored to restore your smile whether you are missing one tooth or an entire arch.

A Single Missing Tooth

A custom implant-supported crown can seamlessly replace one tooth, restoring both function and appearance.

Several Missing Teeth

For multiple gaps, implants can support a bridge or partial denture, creating a stable solution that looks and feels natural.

A Full Arch

Patients missing all teeth on the upper or lower arch can benefit from an implant-supported denture that stays firmly in place.

Loose or Shifting Teeth

Severely damaged or shifting teeth can be extracted and replaced with implants, protecting your oral health and preventing future complications.

All-on-4: A Faster Path to a New Smile

Not every patient qualifies for traditional implant dentures, especially if bone loss is a concern. With the All-on-4 technique, Dr. Malki can restore a full arch of teeth using just four strategically angled implants.

This innovative method offers several advantages:

  • No bone grafting for many patients — Angled placement provides stability even with reduced bone density

  • Fewer implants required — Four posts instead of six to eight

  • Quicker treatment and recovery — Fewer procedures and less downtime

  • Secure, natural-looking results — Full dentures that won’t slip or shift

All-on-4 allows patients to achieve lasting stability and confidence without the extra steps of traditional implant treatments.

Who Qualifies for Dental Implants?

Wondering if implants are right for you? At our River Edge office, Dr. Malki evaluates several important factors to determine candidacy:

Bone Health

A strong jawbone is essential for supporting implants. If bone loss has occurred, procedures like grafting can rebuild the foundation you need.

Tobacco Use

Smoking greatly increases the risk of implant failure. Patients must quit before beginning treatment to ensure proper healing.

Gum Health

Healthy gums are critical to long-term implant success. If periodontal disease is present, we can provide treatment before moving forward.

Medical Conditions

Uncontrolled diabetes, autoimmune disorders, and other health issues may affect healing. We’ll work with your physician to ensure conditions are managed before surgery.

Age Considerations

There is no upper age limit for implants. We’ve successfully treated patients in their 70s, 80s, and even 90s. Overall health matters more than age.

Timeline for Dental Implant Treatment at Our Practice in River Edge

Dental implant care happens in carefully planned phases. While the full process can take several months, the outcome is a permanent solution that looks and feels like natural teeth.

Preparatory Steps

Some patients need preliminary procedures, such as bone grafting, a sinus lift, or tooth extractions, to create a strong foundation for implants.

Implant Placement

Dr. Malki will begin by administering local anesthesia to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Then, using a surgical guide designed based on models of your bite, he will make incisions in your gums at the site of your missing teeth. He will then insert the titanium implants into the jawbone and close the incisions with sutures.

Healing and Integration

Most patients need anywhere from three to six months to heal completely before advancing to the next phase of treatment. During this time, the dental implants fuse with the jawbone in a process called "osseointegration," creating a permanent and stable foundation for your restorations. We may be able to provide a temporary prosthetic for you to wear during this time.

Abutment Placement

Once the titanium implants have completely fused with your jaw, you will return to our River Edge office in Bergen County for a second procedure. Dr. Malki will re-open the gums to attach connector pieces, also known as "abutments," to the posts.

Impressions

After your gums have completely healed from abutment placement (which can take a few weeks), Dr. Malki will take impressions of your teeth, gums, and abutments. We will send your impressions to our trusted dental lab, where technicians will craft your custom crown, bridge, or denture.

Final Restoration

After approximately two weeks, your restoration will be ready for placement. You will return to our office one more time so we can secure your prosthetic teeth to the implants. After checking the look and fit and making any necessary adjustments, Dr. Malki will screw your crown, bridge, or denture onto the abutments, completing your treatment. You can now enjoy a smile that looks, feels, and functions just like natural teeth.

Get Started With Safe, Comfortable Treatment

Most of our patients report that they feel very little if any pain during the implant procedure. While some side effects like soreness and swelling can be expected after the operation, they are usually mild enough to manage with over-the-counter pain medication.

Given the overall oral health benefits, you should not reject dental implants out of fear of pain. As with any medical procedure, we are equipped to provide you with appropriate levels of anesthesia and pain medicine to be comfortable during and after surgery.

Our Commitment to Long-Term Success

Recent research confirms that dental implants are a highly predictable treatment, with long-term success rates exceeding 95% when patients maintain healthy habits and regular checkups. While rare, implant failure can occur — most often within the first few years.

We stand behind our work. If a complication arises, we provide re-treatment at no additional cost until your implant is successful. All we ask is that you attend routine visits and follow your home care plan. Our warranty reflects our dedication to reliable outcomes and patient satisfaction.
