A porcelain veneer is a ceramic shell that's made by a lab ceramist when a patient wants to improve their smile. These pieces of porcelain are custom designed for each patient. We can change the shape, color, and form of the teeth, and of the smile, to achieve the final desired result that the patient's looking for. So veneers are typically needed when the patient has existing bondings or fillings in their front teeth that are decaying or breaking down. They can also be needed if the patient is just not happy with the way their smile looks regarding spacing or crowding. So the length of the procedure for porcelain veneers. The patient's scheduled, the first appointment basically the teeth are prepared, and once the teeth are prepared, the impression is taken and that impression is sent to the laboratory. After the teeth are prepared, temporaries are made, so the patient will leave, you know, with temporaries that look like natural teeth but are very beautiful. And then after two weeks, the patient will return, the temporaries will be removed, and then the porcelain veneers will be tried in first, the patient will look, make sure they're happy with the outcome, and then once they say they're happy, the veneers get cemented or bonded into place, and that's it. And the transformation is immediate. So the length of time that veneers last varies depending on how well the patient takes care of them. If the patient brushes and flosses regularly, comes in regularly for their dental cleanings, the veneers will last many, many years. It's life-changing actually. It's transformational. Patients will come in, if they're embarrassed of their teeth, if they're afraid to smile, by going through the process of having porcelain veneers, their life will change. They're not afraid to smile anymore, their confidence grows, and it's a great feeling knowing that you're helping somebody who is always afraid to smile, and now they walk in and they can't thank you enough of how beautiful their smile looks, how confident they've become. And that's really the beginning of good health, to know that your mouth is healthy, to be proud of yourself, to feel comfortable with your smile.
