An Attractive Smile in No Time
One of the elements that sets Malki Dental apart from other dental practices is the variety of innovative technologies we use at our office. In an effort to provide the safest and most effective patient care, Dr. Stephen J. Malki incorporates the latest technologies into his treatment plans. CEREC® is a progressive system used at our New Jersey practice to fit, craft, and place crowns and veneers.
What is CEREC®?
CEREC® is system that allows for the preparation, fabrication, and placement of same day dental crowns, veneers, inlays, and onlays in one convenient office visit. This piece of technology has completely transformed the way that Dr. Malki places dental restorations. CEREC® eliminates the need for lab work by designing and milling dental restorations on site in under an hour. Patients who opt for CEREC® ceramic restorations will first have several 3-D digital photos taken of their teeth. These images are then uploaded into the CEREC® software, which builds a computerized model of the patient’s mouth and plans the restoration. Dr. Malki reviews this model to ensure it complies with the individual needs and wants of the patient. Once this model is complete, the CEREC® milling machine creates the restoration from a slab of ceramic. Depending on the number of restorations being crafted, this entire process can be completed in less than 30 minutes. Since incorporating CEREC® technology into our practice, Dr. Malki has successfully placed over 1000 of these restorations.

The Benefits of CEREC®
CEREC® technology helps Dr. Malki achieve his goals of providing convenient, efficient patient care. Prior to the introduction of CEREC®, patients had to schedule at least two office visits in order to have dental crowns or veneers placed. This process involved messy clay impressions, the uncomfortable placement of temporary restorations, and weeks of waiting for the lab to create the permanent restoration. CEREC® eliminates all of that inconvenience. This technology makes the most of a patient’s time by allowing Dr. Malki to provide comprehensive care on the spot. Not only does this save time, but it also eliminates the need for multiple doses of anesthesia.
Another benefit of CEREC® restorations is that they tend to be stronger than their earlier counterparts, which were made of gold or other metals. CEREC® uses strong ceramic materials that closely resemble natural tooth color, creating a flawless final look. These materials are also more compatible with a patient’s natural teeth, reducing the risk of sensitivity problems. In addition, patients can trust in the accuracy of their final restoration because its creation is guided by Dr. Malki, rather than a lab technician who is disconnected from the specific patient’s needs. Finally, CEREC® restorations are long-lasting. With proper care and follow-up treatment, patients can expect their beautiful, durable restorations to last up to 15 years.
